The Kelowna Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization formed in 1988, is registered under the Society Act of British Columbia and the Canada Income Tax Act. The Friends’ mission is to raise funds to support the Okanagan Regional Library in general and the three Kelowna area Branches in particular – Kelowna, Mission and Rutland – to enhance the profile of our libraries in the community and increase awareness and use of library programs and services.
Kelowna Friends of the Library Executive meetings are rotated between the three branch libraries, at 5:30 pm on the second Monday of most months (except January, July and August). The Annual General Meeting is held every November.
Our major fundraiser, the Great Okanagan Book Sale takes place typically in October each year. The Kelowna Friends of the Library also host other sales, public meetings and author events throughout the year.
